A Dream

Poetry.com April 2005

Head nestled in a soft pillow.
Tired heavy eyelids,
slip into a blissful sleep.
Fleeting moments link up
to form a timeless bliss.

Wakeful laws in suspension.
Real is, what was not.
Stark colors defy depiction.
Images, in slow motion,
fuse to what cannot be.

Gravity abandons its pull.
The Earth meets the Sky.
Horizon is, where I am.
Friends, long gone, converse
in feelings, and perceptions.

Imperceptibly, perhaps suddenly,
awareness of being emerges.
Astride the two worlds for a while,
I try holding on to what is not,
a little longer, to elude, what is.
